Upcycle Tealight Candles

A quick and easy guide on remaking tealight candles to suit your needs. Perfect for sprucing up your home as well as creating a corresponding candle for spellwork.

  • Tealight Candles
  • Safe Heated Surface
  • Tweezers
  • Toothpicks
  • Crayons
  • Essential Oils (optional)

  • Place your candle(s) on the heated surface.
  • Let the wax melt.
  • Use the tweezers to carefully pull the wicks out from the center. Be sure to pull the wick and wick holder from the candle.
  • Break off a piece of the crayon and add it to the melted candle. This will give your candle color. NOTE: The color will not be as dark as it appears. It does dry lighter!
  • Carefully remove the candle(s) from the heat.
  • Slowly mix the crayon and wax together, being careful not to burn yourself.
  • Let the wax sit for 2 minutes.
  • OPTIONAL -- Add 5-10 drops of essential oil and slowly stir the wax.
  • Use the tweezers to place the wick that you took out back into the center of the candle. If necessary, use another toothpick to keep the wick from falling into the wax.
  • Let the candles cool!
