Learn to Read Tarot – The Hanged Man || BEGINNER FRIENDLY || Talk Tarot with Me Ep. 19

With something hanging in the balance, will you freak out or be serene? The Hanged Man asks you to look at life – or a situation – from a new perspective.

The Hanged Man – Description

Okay, so you can see here the Hanged Man is literally a man hanging upside down. He is…he kind of looks like he’s in the tree pose, the yoga pose where you put your leg up. But his arms are behind him and he doesn’t look like he’s freaking out like I would be. There is some foliage on the card, some greenery in the background. And if you look at his head towards the bottom of the card, you can see that there is a halo of light that surrounds him.

The Hanged Man – Upright

Surrender – New Perspective

So upright, the Hanged Man is all about surrender and gaining a new perspective. Obviously he’s gaining a new perspective…he’s looking at the world from upside down and he does look like he has accepted that surrender mindset because he’s not freaking out. He’s not, you know, he doesn’t look scared and that’s really what this card is about. It’s a reminder to you when it shows up in your reading in the upright position that sometimes life just needs to take a break. Hit the pause button and relax within yourself so that you don’t get burnt out. You need to surrender to the situation. And it’s a reminder that if you don’t hit the pause button yourself, the universe will do it for you in the form of obstacles and roadblocks that make you stop what you’re doing. However, you can avoid those obstacles and roadblocks if you’re really in tune with yourself, your mindset and your spirituality when you can begin to recognize when you need to take a break.

Whatever the case may be, the Hanged Man in the upright position is telling you that you need to stop and you need to look at it with a new set of eyes. Gain a new perspective before you push forward. It can also be a reminder to you that change in your routine can be a good thing. Maybe you don’t have enough time in your day set aside for some me-time. Maybe you’re not spending enough time with your family. Whatever the case may be the universe, in this case, is trying to tell you that you need to switch up your routine a little bit so that you can move forward easier.

The Hanged Man – Reversed

Delay – Resistance

Now, in the reversed position, the Hanged Man is all about delay and resistance. In this case, you need to take a break and you need to gain a new perspective. However, you are resisting that with every fiber of your being. You don’t want to take a break. You don’t want to look at it with a new set of eyes. Whatever the reason may be, you are resisting this change in perspective. And it could be that instead of taking time to look at it with a fresh set of eyes, you’re filling your time with other things that you need to do, other tasks, other tasks and maybe work stuff or you know, you’re just filling your extra time with meaningless junk to avoid looking at the situation that is really important at this point in time. It can also show up in the reversed position if you feel stuck and this is going to be being stuck because of things that are out of your control.

Maybe you have some plans for something and it involves another party. Another person is involved and they have to do something before you can finish what it is that you’re supposed to do. Well, things might be on hold if that person is having a problem or that person is not doing what they’re supposed to be doing. But you cannot do your part until they do. In this case, the reversed Hanged Man will show up to let you know you’ve got to let it go. It’s out of your control at this point. There’s nothing you can do to change the situation and you have to wait for the other person or the other situation to fix itself or to get fixed before you can move forward. And lastly, the Hanged Man in the reverse position could show indecision. Maybe there’s something that you are wanting to do, but you’re holding off.

You’re resisting making a decision until you feel 100% ready. Maybe you’re waiting until you have all of the information, or you have all of the resources. The Hanged Man is here to tell you that that’s never going to happen. You’re never going to feel 100% ready. You’re never going to feel completely financially stable, and you just need to do it. You just need to do it.
