Learn to Read Tarot – The Star || BEGINNER FRIENDLY || Talk Tarot with Me Ep. 24

A beautiful symbol of hope and new beginnings, The Star in tarot is not really a messenger. In this case, The Star says that you’re ready to receive the messages. What will yours be?

I make every attempt to be inclusive and accessible to everyone. If you would prefer to download a PDF copy of this transcript, click here.

The Star – Description

You can see that the prominent figure in the star is a woman and she is naked. She is pouring out water in two cups – one in each hand. She has one foot in the water and one foot on the ground, and there are stars in the sky in the background. One is large and then you have seven other smaller stars that are also a different color. You can also see a fertile landscape in the background with a tree and a bird sitting on top. Her nudity is a symbol of vulnerability while the water she pours represents the magic in the world around us.

The Star – Upright

Hope – Renewal

The woman in the card is naked for a reason. Her being naked really symbolizes the vulnerability that this card portrays. When the card is in the upright position, it is a symbol of hope and renewal. She’s pouring the water out to really nurture the land around her and continue the cycle of growth. Since this card comes after The Tower, it’s a welcome break. A welcome break from the chaos and the turmoil that the tower might have caused you and really – it’s sort of like the light at the end of the tunnel. When The Star shows up in your reading in the upright position, it is a message to you that you are now ready to receive any messages that the Universe might have for you without the noise of the shaky foundation of The Tower.

The way that the water flows in The Star card in the upright position is also a sign to you that the magic in the world is all around you. You are ready to find out what the hope of the new beginning for you is and you may actually find yourself drawn to new hobbies or to relearning old hobbies and explore a part of you that you might have thought that you left behind but you actually really miss. The Star card in the upright position really embodies a profound spiritual journey, and it’s one that will lead you to the best version of yourself and more happiness in the end.

The Star – Reversed

Lack of Faith – Despair

Now, when The Star shows up in your reading in the reversed position, it really symbolizes a lack of faith and despair. At this point in time, you’re not ready to receive any of those messages that the Universe has for you because you’ve been through so much and you’ve really let those experiences break your spirit. And you need to heal first before you can hear what the Universe has to tell you. At this point, you’re not ready to receive those messages because you are just full of despair. You have no faith, and this could be in the world around you or even within yourself. When The Star shows up in the reversed position, it could also mean that your faith is about to be tested. And in this case, you have two options. You can either crumble under the pressure of the experiences or you can climb out on top and come out a better person.

When The Star shows up in the reversed position, it could also mean that you are experiencing a sense of detachment. This could be a detachment from those around you, from your hobbies and the things that you enjoy, or even from yourself. And you may be going through what I call a spiritual depression. At this point, you probably have no interest in any of your old hobbies. You have no interest in being social and you just want to seclude yourself away from everyone and just be by yourself in your despair. But, for this spiritual depression, The Star card is really just telling you that you need to dig yourself out of this and you need to overcome this spiritual depression. And overcoming a spiritual depression doesn’t always involve what you think it does. Sometimes overcoming a spiritual depression simply means taking time for yourself, making sure that you are physically nurtured so that you can also be spiritually nurtured.
